Gone Fishing
Here’s another client reject that is on its way to getting finished. You can see a couple of minor changes in the pencil sketch vs the inked version, no lures, bigger smile and eyes.

Jeff, how do you convert the pencil drawing into the clean “inked” version. Do you ink over the pencil sketch, or scan into Photoshop or Illustrator. I am interested in your work process. Thanks for this great blog!
Lin, I ink directly on the pencil sketches nearly all of the time, then scan the inked version into Photoshop and do a bit of cleanup there. Occasionally, if I get in a rush and sketch on a piece of paper that isn’t suitable for inking, I’ll ink on a piece of vellum taped over the paper. After the inked version is cleaned up in Photoshop, I’ll trace it in Illustrator to create a vector version.
