Here is another Flash test file I’ve made to re-create the classic Saturday morning cartoon effect I grew up with: a scrolling background scene with objects moving at various speeds to give the illusion of depth.
Here is a video I’ve edited and narrated for a buddy of mine. He’s a corporate pilot who’s developed a small bit of educational software that is used in conjunction with the fantastic flight simulator, X-Plane. Although this video gives you a good idea of what the software is all about, more detailed information about the plug-in can be found at alphatrainer.com.
For this post, I thought I would combine a couple of past posts into a single cartoon. So I grabbed my duck sketch video and plane sketch video, added a few new elements to jazz it up a bit, and put them together.
This is my 100th post on this blog and because it’s been a while since I’ve created a sketch video, I thought I would crank one out in celebration. For some reason, maybe because as you can see, I wasn’t using a brand new pencil, I didn’t seem to be as organized or logical in my drawing during this session. So due to my scattered sketching style, this time there isn’t any narration to help walk you through my process. But I hope you can still follow along well enough to get something usable out of it.
Not that any of my clients would do anything like this of course, but it’s funny nonetheless. If you have a creative business, I’m sure there might have been a time or two that you’ve felt like the folks in this video.
This is not your ordinary public service announcement. It’s extremely creative, moving, and best of all, thought provoking.
One of my favorite cartoonists, Mort Drucker, on video courtesy of Stephen Silver. This is the first in a series featuring cartooning greats across the country. As Mr. Drucker rarely does any drawing on camera, this is a real treat.
